Kamshet is a hamlet in Maharashtra’s Maval Taluka. It is famously known as the capital of paragliding in India. It is 16km from Lonavala and surrounded by the Western ghats. Kamshet is a famous place to visit, with many options available to reach your destination. Pune is the nearest to Kamshet as it is 49km away. Travelers can drive to the place, which takes around an hour by road. Through Mumbai, it will take around 102km to reach Kamshet. From Lonavala, it is 19km. Through the railway, from Mumbai, trains are available. You can travel to Kamshet through the old Mumbai-Pune route, then book a jeep to the paragliding location.


Kamshet is a beautiful hill station with a tempting view of valleys and ranges. The height of Kamshet is 2200 ft. It is very famous for paragliding and best for adventures. For paragliding, there are certified instructors available to help and guide.  Depending upon your age, fitness and experience with the paragliding sport are three varieties. The three types include classic team paragliding, instructional team paragliding and Acro team paragliding. 

  • Classic team paragliding is the easiest, perfect for a new person. It is a two-seater paragliding method guided by a professional flyer.
  • Instructional team Paragliding is flying by yourself where the instructor will give you all control instructions beforehand. 
  • Acro Tandem Paragliding is a high-speed paragliding technique. It is performed by experts who use aerobatic tricks and skills. You can fly high and enjoy the beauty with the adrenaline rush. 

The person who wants to participate in paragliding must be fit and healthy both physically and mentally. The age limit is 12 to 65 years. The person must weigh between 25 to 90kg. The participants under the age of 18 must have their parents’ consent and one adult while flying. The flying sites are Kamshet hills, Kusgaon hills, and Karanjgaon hills are 22km from Lonavala.



For Kamshet paragliding, the most suitable time is from October to May. During April, the climate is hotter as compared to other months. January is the coldest time to visit Pune. The temperature is 10 degrees during the daytime. Kamshet has a tropical atmosphere and always has a mild climate. From December to February, the temperature is between 12 to 33 degrees. During the months, the climatic circumstances are very satisfying to enjoy the locations. It is the most satisfactory period for Kamshet.


  • Kamshet paragliding is safe and secure. The paragliding is handled by professional gliders. Types of equipment and tools operated are safe and experimented with before flying. The flyers who will escort the person are licensed.
  • Paragliding is an activity appropriate to the weather and wind situations. 
  • During winter, in the morning time is from 8 am to 11 am. 
  • During the summer, the flying period is in the afternoon from 3 pm to 6:30 pm. 
  • In India, the monsoon season is from July to September and during this time, paragliding is not suitable. It is prohibited for tourists.
